Frequently Asked Questions
How long are lessons and how much do they cost?
Lessons are 1 hour long and cost £30. I also offer half an hour lessons for young children at a cost of £15. Two beginners or siblings can share an hour lesson for £30. Lessons can be booked as a regular weekly or fortnightly time, or as a one off lesson.
If cancelling a lesson, 48 hours notice is required or a cancellation fee will be charged.
How to book a lesson?

How do lessons work?
Lessons can be tailored to you, covering topics from playing your favourite songs and solos, improving your technique and improvisation to understanding music theory and working towards graded exams.
Whether having in-person lessons or online lessons, PDFs of song charts and TABs as well as chords, scale and arpeggio diagrams in addition to audio backing tracks will be supplied or emailed when required.
How to pay for lessons?
Lessons in-person can pay in cash, cheque, bank transfer or PayPal. Online lessons can be paid for by bank transfer or PayPal. You can pay for a lesson on the day or in advance. Block bookings must be paid in advance.
Do you teach complete beginners?
Yes, I teach all levels of ability, about half of my students are complete beginners. Whether you are learning just for fun or have an ambition of being a professional musician, I can tailor lessons specifically to suit your needs.
Should I bring my own guitar?
Yes, but there is no need to bring any amps, effects or leads.
Buying a lesson for a gift?
If you are buying a lesson for a gift please contact me for gift cards and details.
Do you do home visits?
Yes, I’m very busy between schools and private work, but please give me a call to find out more.
Do you teach children?
Yes, I do teach children from age 7 onwards. I have over 20 years experience with this and i am an RGT at LCM registered teacher. I always recommend that parents stay for the 1st lesson, I have a waiting room available. I also have an advanced CRB check.
Help for organisations and schools?
As a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors, and being an experienced music teacher, I try to give as much time and advice as i can to schools and organisations alike. Even teaching students and classes with no charge. Please give me a call and if I have time I will be more then willing to help your school or organisation out.
Duke of Edinburgh awards (DofE)
I can fill in Duke of Edinburgh assessors reports using the guitar as a skill for bronze, silver and gold award levels.
